Pattern
Glass Specification
Checklist Should
Include:
1. Pattern
numbers? In
our showroom
and on this
web site we
make available
to our customers
over thirty
different patterns
to choose from.
They all have
a number to
help both parties
correctly identify
what is wanted
at the time
an order is
placed. On-Site
Systems also
has the capability
to create custom
patterns for
our customers
if it can't
be found in
the pattern
book or website.
2.
Scaled size
of pattern? When sending
in a bid for
a project please
include the
scale of the
pattern wanted
on the glass.
Patterns can
be scaled up
or down to
various sizes
to accommodate
requirements
for the job.
This helps
keep the pattern
consistent
across the
surface from
edge to edge
without any
breaking of
the design.
3.
Which surface
of glass to
etch (1st or
2nd)? Is there
a high traffic
side of the
glass? Frosted
glass (if not
treated with
Sealex) can
be soiled from
handling. If
there is a
side of the
glass that
is less likely
to be touched
by others,
it is recommended
that the frosting
be on that
surface. Surface
reflection
can wash out
the frosted
surface. The
frosted areas
of the pattern
block the surface
reflection
which makes
the pattern
easier to view.
A frosted logo
can be enhanced
or highlighted
with proper
lighting such
as spotlights.
4.
Positive or
Negative
etch? In most
cases, patterns
or graphics
with small,
fine or intricate
detail on clear
glass will
be greatly
enhanced and
also give more
privacy when
the background
is frosted
and the detail
left clear.
This is commonly
referred to
as a negative
etch.
5. Do
you want a ClearShield
coating? Our special
ClearShield coating
helps reduce
smudges from
fingerprints.
This is very
important if
the glass is
installed in
a high traffic
area.
6.
Specify On-Site
Systems as a source
in your plans
to ensure your
project will
be completed
correctly and
in a professional
manner.
