Cement based
fiber boards
such as Plycem,
Frugalpal,
Eterboard, Hardy Board,
etc. can be
carved with custom designs, infilled with colors or painted and used for many
applications
such as wall
panels in hospitals and restaurants, fireplace
surrounds,
ceilings and
furniture tops.
We have carved
many designs
into this material.
Some of the images
have been painted
with accent
colors or stains
to highlight
the art. We
prepare the
surface of
the board with
a fresh sandblasted
surface to
make the surface
have a consistent
finish. We
then apply
three clear
sealer coats
to protect
against damage
to the surface.

Graphic
images are
not limited
to the size
of material
as you can
see in this
13ft. tall
dinosaur that
was one of
many images
sandblasted
in this project
which we completed for Children's
Medical Center
in Augusta,
Georgia. Many
of the images
in this project
spanned across
multiple panels.
The work was
completed in
our shop, marked
for placement
on the wall
for the cement board installers and shipped
to the site
for installation.
Upon arriving
there, the
panels were
then placed
in perfect
alignment,
much like a
jigsaw puzzle,
to project
a consistent
flow of art
work across
multiple seams
on the walls. |

The
fireplace surround
pictured in
the art gallery
on the right was carved to simulate natural stone and then stained
to compliment
the colors
and theme of
the gallery.
It also features
a uniquely
carved center
tile to highlight
the fireplace and serve as a focal point to give
the project a personalized
character.
