Glass & Edge-Lit/LED Signs
On-Site Systems Architectural Glass, using state of the art glass etching equipment, can duplicate any size corporate logo in glass according to exacting standards. We have over 25-years’ experience in etched glass products and can bring your project to completion on time and within budget.
On-Site Systems’ LED signs are etched or carved glass panels enhanced through the use of top and/or bottom, edge-lit LED lighting. Our process of shading, frosting and carving the glass surface allows for the LED light to be reflected, creating the appearance of a floating, glowing 3D logo or design.
On-Site Systems customizes the LED (light-emitting diode) colors to your preference - white, red, green, blue, or a combined RGB. We use a programmable LED lighting controller to allow the glass etching to be set on a specific color or change colors throughout the entire spectrum. Match your company color with your choice of 255 shades of blue.
For example, a financial investment client utilizes the lighting controller to change the color of the company logo each day to reflect the previous day’s business performance. If the logo appears “red”, the arriving employees knew they needed to be more productive. If the logo appears “green”, employees knew the company was profitable.
There is no limit to the LED lighting effects that can be achieved with an edge-lit sign system.
Specifications
Edge-lit signs can be as small as a 4-inch by 5-inch desktop logo or as large as an entire etched glass wall. The basic lighting controllers come with a remote to change intensity, cycle and color. For the advanced controllers, such as the fully functional DMX 512 theatrical lighting protocol controller, a laptop computer, a network connection and Color Play software is needed for programming.
LED Edge Lit Glass Specification Checklist Should Include:
- Which surface of the glass to be etched (i.e. 1st or 2nd)? Is there a high traffic side of the glass?
Frosted glass (if not treated with ClearShield) can be soiled from handling. If there is a side of the glass that is less likely to be touched by others, it is recommended that the glass etchng be on that surface. Surface reflection can wash out the frosted glass surface. The frosted areas of the logo block out the surface reflection which makes the logo easier to view. A frosted glass logo can be enhanced or highlighted with proper lighting such as spotlights or LED lighting. - Positive or Negative etch?
In most cases, Logo's or graphics with small, fine or intricate detail on clear glass will be greatly enhanced when the background is left clear and the edge lit detail is etched. This is commonly referred to as a positive etch. - Surface etch or 3D depth carve?
Tempered glass cannot be deep carved safely. If depth is desired in tempered glass, the sandblasting should be executed prior to tempering or use annealed glass that is laminated to meet code requirements. Tempered glass etching can be safely done to a depth not to exceed 1/8-inch of the total thickness of the glass. This gives a noticeable 3D effect without compromising the integrity of the etched glass. - Specify On-Site Systems as a source in your plans to ensure your glass etching or edge lit sign project will be completed correctly, on time, within budget and in a professional manner.
